LINE SLIDER:
PAINT THE WORLD!
(2018)
Designed white box prototypes and analytics systems using Unity & C#, and co-managed production using Kanban methods for a commercial mobile game.
Line Slider: Paint the World! is a commercial, free-to-play tablet game in which players help a mischievous creature named Bip escape from angry townsfolk by drawing lines for him to slide on. The game adds a Line Rider-esque drawing mechanic to the traditional mobile endless runner, creating a unique gameplay blend that has been praised by numerous playtesters and players.
The game was initially developed by myself and a team of 5 other core developers, including producer Victoria Yong, lead programmer Dain Woods, lead designer Alice Li, QA lead Zena Abulhab, lead artist Tristan LaCroix, and sound designer & composer Maxime Gautier, as well as a host of other contributors. (I left the project in August 2018 to finish my studies, but work on Line Slider has continued in my absence. As such, I can't take credit for any changes that were made to the game since then.)
On this project, I...
-
Helped manage production and maintain the project Kanban board in a fast-paced, F2P development environment
-
Engaged with stakeholders and project managers to ensure the game met their specifications
-
Created initial white box prototypes using Unity and C# to test different early gameplay concepts
-
Programmed in the initial analytics system using the GameAnalytics Unity plugin, something I learned how to do on the job
-
Conducted frequent playtests with players of various ages, and prioritized tasks to ensure game was delivered on time
-
Used Unity and C# to create and refine various other aspects of game functionality at all stages of development
